ISTE NETS Standards for Teachers

Using Prezi in the classroom meets several of the ISTE Standards. Using a Prezi meets Standard 1 by demonstrating knowledge of the technology and the use of current and emerging devices in the classroom. A teacher could use a Prezi in any content area. The use of new technology in the classroom can enhance learning ability, Standard 3A,D. Students may see the "hum-drum" content as exciting and new if displayed in a different contexts, Standard 3C. Classrooms are very diverse; adding technology is like putting a glove on a hand, Standard 2A. Using Prezis in classrooms can display teachers ability to use different technological tools to teach and assess. A teacher could have her class create Prezis instead of posters and present them to the class, Standard 2, 3, and 4. A teacher who is willing to try and use new technology will never be shuned. Learning new technology, techniques or information will always be encouraged for personal growth, Standard 5A,C. It is important to understand technology and relate the use of technology in classrooms. Ethical, moral and legal issues with technology needs to be examined before it is used in the classroom, Standard 6A,D, and E.

Reflection on Gange

The nine events of instruction is a guideline for teachers to follow when instructing students. The events allows teachers to stay focused on instruction while engaging students in an active learning environment. Gagne's events delves into the behavioral side of learning. His design exploits the brain; his goal being optimal brain output. His model is an excellent tool for all teachers to follow. The 9 events is a common sense tool in the learning and teaching process.

All three of the interactions we discussed in class are important:
1. Student to student and vice versa
2. Instructor to student and vice versa
3. Student to content and vice versa.
The first two steps of Gagne's events would be suitable for instructor to student. This way the instructor is establishing what content they will be learning for the day. Prior recall could be any of the three interactions, depending on the teacher's lesson plan. New content usually is delivered by the teacher to the student, but could be student to student, or content to student. Guided learning could occur in all three interactions, as well. Student to student and instructor to student could be incorporated in events six and seven, which is elicit performance and feedback. Assesment is usually from the teacher, however, students can assess their own work and other student's work. The last step falls to students. This is where they display their own pedagogy.
