I believe all students can learn no matter what age. I believe all children want to learn and it is a teacher's responsibility to encourage and stimulate learning. Children deserve to learn in a safe and secure environment. I want all children to feel accepted in the classroom and carry that feeling outside of the classroom. I want all children to feel they are welcome in my classroom. Students need to know that the teacher will listen and aid them if the occasion arises. Students deserve to be taught effectively and in an environment that is conducive to their specific learning abilities. I feel that students should expect high teaching abilities from their teacher, just as a teacher should expect high learning expectations from students.
One of my goals for my students and myself is to create a community in the classroom. I want parents to be involved in their child's education process just as much as the teacher. Parents are important models in their child's lives. Every child should feel a closeness and a connection to their classmates, teachers and community. Children that have mutual goals and objectives will far exceed students that are taught individual competitiveness. I want every child to feel safe and secure in the classroom and outside of the classroom. I desire every child to academically improve at whatever level they may be at. I wish to see each and every student achieve their personal potential. I want to see every child walk away from my classroom proud of their achievements and proud of who they are and will become. Every child is different and I plan on trying many different variations to aid in the academic success of my students. My goal for myself is to try, try, try!!! I am very excited to use many teaching accommodations to maximize my students abilities.
Students learn in a multitude of avenues. A teacher must analyze students and accomadate the teaching style to fit each student. Some students will flourish individually, while others will need small group or large group instruction. Graphic organizers are visually stimulating tools that aid in the process of learning. Teachers need to incorporate visuals and active learning examples in lectures to foster deeper learning potential in students. Teachers must vigilantly be flexible in their teaching style because every child is different. Adaptations in teaching will ultimately facilitate students.
Deep down I have always wanted to be a teacher. As a child, I played school with my older and younger sister. I remember on many occasions reading to my younger sister and correcting worksheets that I created for her. The opportunity to follow my dream did not materialize until after I had my children. I have three wonderful children and learned immediately that parents are their children's first teachers. I have enjoyed over the years promoting my own children's learning and want to expand my talents in teaching others. I am a strong advocate for education. I want to see every child, adolescent or even adult learn. I believe it is never too late to learn. Observing in several classrooms have brought me enjoyment. After observing, I leave the classroom filled with joy and excitement. I love learning and becoming a teacher is a life long goal.
